- Luggage: You can bring your full luggage in the 4×4. During the camel trek, your main bags stay secure in the vehicle or are transferred to your tent.
- Clothing: Desert temperatures drop significantly after sunset. Bring warm layers (fleece or jacket) for the evening, sunglasses, a scarf, and comfortable walking shoes.
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains (Tizi n'Tichka) – Kasbah Ait Benhaddou – Draa Valley – Zagora Desert Camp
Your 2-day desert adventure begins with morning pickup (around 07:30 AM) from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. We drive south through the High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260m), stopping for panoramic photos of traditional Berber mud-brick villages nestled on mountainsides.
Descend into the foothills to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, an iconic fortified village that served as a backdrop for Hollywood films such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones. Enjoy a guided stroll through the ancient adobe alleyways and savor lunch at a panoramic terrace overlooking the river valley.
Continuing past Ouarzazate, we cross the lunar volcanic ridges of the Anti-Atlas (Tizi N’Tinifift pass) into the breathtaking Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest palm oasis lined with millions of date palms and historic kasbahs. By late afternoon, arrive in Zagora, the historic gateway to the Sahara.
Meet your camel caravan for an enchanting sunset trek into the Zagora dunes as the golden light softens over the desert horizon. Arrive at your authentic Berber desert camp, where warm mint tea awaits. Enjoy a freshly prepared traditional Moroccan dinner (tagine, couscous, seasonal fruits) followed by an evening around the campfire with live Berber drumming and stargazing under the clear Saharan sky.

Day 2: Zagora Desert Sunrise – Draa Valley – Agdz – Taourirt Kasbah – High Atlas – Marrakech
Wake up early to witness an unforgettable Saharan sunrise over the dunes. After a peaceful morning stroll on the sand, enjoy a hearty Berber breakfast with warm bread, honey, olives, eggs, fresh juice, coffee, and Moroccan mint tea at the camp.
Mount your camel for a peaceful morning ride back to Zagora (or transfer via 4×4 if preferred), where your private driver awaits. We begin our scenic return journey along the winding palm groves of the Draa Valley, making a stop in the tranquil riverside village of Agdz for photos and refreshments.
Arrive in Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa”, where you will visit the historic Taourirt Kasbah and see the exterior of the legendary Atlas Film Studios. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before beginning the afternoon drive back across the High Atlas Mountains.
Enjoy the scenic descent with stops for fresh mountain air and argan oil cooperatives, arriving back in Marrakech by early evening (around 18:30 – 19:00 PM). Your driver will drop you off directly at your hotel or the closest accessible point to your riad in the Medina.
