Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Ait Benhaddou → Ouarzazate → Skoura Oasis
On the first day of our 4 days tour from Marrakech to Fes via the Sahara desert, we depart Marrakech at 08:30 in the morning and head to Ouarzazate, considered the gateway to southern Morocco. We cross the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi N’Tichka pass (2260m), with beautiful scenery and views of Berber Tribal settlements.
On the way to Ouarzazate, we visit the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, known for its many movie scenes and beautiful architecture. Momentum, we proceed with the Kasbah of Taourirt or take its pictures and relieve it. From there, we continue through the Skoura Oasis, where ancient Kasbahs are set amid palm groves; this will be our first night in a very nice guesthouse.
Day 2: Skoura Oasis → Valley of Roses → Dades Valley → Tinghir → Todra Valley → Todra Gorges → Merzouga
We continue our 4 days tour from Marrakech to Fes, driving through the Valley of Roses and visiting a workshop that produces rose-based cosmetics grown there. From there, we proceed to Merzouga, crossing through the valley of the roses and the valley of the thousand kasbahs. In Tinghir, we explore the local palms, kasbahs, and the awesome Todra Gorges. We then move through Rissani, Erfoud, and the Tafilalte oasis all the way to Merzouga. The break in Merzouga has spectacular desert views.
Then enjoy a nice walk and admire the sunset over the sand dunes, and then have a nice dinner and sleep over at a Riad in Merzouga. We also take a 1-hour camel ride at a leisurely pace to our camp, where we watch the sunset over the dunes of Erg Chebbi. For dinner, we dine under the natural canvas of the sky, and as we go to sleep, Berber music rocks the night in traditional nomad tents, offering a desert experience.
Day 03 :Explore the Sahara Desert
On day 3 of your 4 days trip from Marrakech to Fes via the Sahara Desert, enjoy a relaxing and delicious breakfast, then take a shower at the hotel. Experience an interesting part of the Moroccan desert at Merzouga by going out for a half-day 4 X 4 exploration of the Merzouga region with a nice off -road drive and stop for a tea break with a nomad family and have an idea about their life. It is recommended to visit Khamliya, where followers perform the unique Gnawa music that originated among the region’s black slaves. Experience the real life of nomadic people, who can neither eat lunch nor take tea.
Later, the rest of the day is free to lounge or take part in optional activities such as sandboarding, a short walk, or quad biking. Being the end of the day, at about two hours to sundown, go for a beautiful camel ride across the dunes for the beautiful sunset. Head to the desert camp, have dinner, then spend the night beside the fire, listening to music under the stars. This is your chance to get a feel for the desert’s quiet and calm as you enjoy this lifetime experience.
Day 4: Merzouga → Erfoud → Errachidia → Midelt → Cedar Forest → Ifrane City → Fes
Following breakfast, a pleasant drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains towards Fez is what the day calls for. Take lunch in the cute towns of Midelt or Zayda. After this, it is advised to proceed to the largest cedar forest in North Africa, inhabited by wild monkeys. A few kilometers away is the town of Ifran, fondly called Morocco’s Switzerland for its greenery and, most especially, for being one of the few skiing resorts in the Middle Atlas at an altitude of 1665 meters.
In addition, Ifran is named after the Berber word for Caves and also houses the lavish The Brotherhood private university, which was founded in 1997 by King Hassan II of Morocco and King Fahd of Saudi Arabia to provide all English-medium courses. Relax for a moment to enjoy the calm surroundings, then have a coffee break as we head to the imperial city of Fes.
