Day 01: Marrakech ➝ Ourika Valley ➝ Berber Villages ➝ Sidi Fares Valley ➝ Agafay
We begin our 2 Days Agafay desert tour & High Atlas mountains&berber villages with a Pick up at 9:00 am from your accommodation for a drive to the Ourika valley one of the most beautiful valleys in Morocco. This valley is about thirty kilometres long from Marrakech; it extends through the foothills of the High Atlas and contains the clay upland homesteads there. MORNING: You will take a tea break at a traditional Berber local people’s home before proceeding to of a Berber women’s cooperative producing Argan Oil in the same region. Learn more on how this precious product is sourced from the Argan tree and the different applications of the product.
Moreover, we will be still keeping on the Oued Ourika (Ourika river) that has water through hout most of the year and prompted the cultivation of vegetable and fruits you can take a break and enjoy a cup of tea at a cafe by the river. The journey then takes one to a quite Berber village noted for its friendliness in the southern face of High Atlas Mountains at an altitude of fifteen hundred meters. Subsequently, move on to Sidi Fares Valley / Oasis to have lunch in one of the local restaurant or in a local house and take a short walking right above the village.
We begin afternoon through hold forest track to the region of Sidi Fares down hill the Mount Oukaimeden. This route has an enchanting view of Mount Oukaimeden before arriving to Ait Mizan Valley the valley near Toubkal containing vegetation and a river winding through it in the Atlas mountain range. Carrying on to Kik Plateau; the terrain becomes gradually prevails to the sparse light brown plateaus of Agafay Desert. Despite the lack of sand dunes the Agafay is similar to the Sahara in terms of solitude and colour to which the mountains that preceded the desert stand in obvious contrast. After a 4pm arrival to Agafay, you will set up camp and have a camel ride with tea under the stars while watching the level sunset. Once the day is over and dinner was served, the camp offers unprecedented spectacle of the night sky in the middle of the desert. This late afternoon change on the winter time ,so on the winter time the camel ride and tea in the nomad tent with the sunset will be in the second day instead the first day. (Overnight at luxury camp )
Day 02: Agafay ➝ Marrakech
After a refreshing breakfast at the camp, the morning unfolds with an exciting quad bike tour (optional) starting at 10: straight from our camp site at around. Those that do not want to be very active or are unable to do the quad biking can always take a nature walk, or just relax at camp and the Swimming pool provided.
Then, just after the exciting quad bike tour or free time, a delicious lunch will be served in the camp where the guests can enjoy a traditional Bedouin cuisine and taste delicious meals in a calm and relaxed atmosphere surrounded by the beautiful desert. Later in the afternoon, around 3: or 4 our considerate driver will come to pick you for the journey back to Marrakech. Expect to arrive at your accommodation by approximately 5pm (summer time / winter time around 7 pm) and thus bringing to an end your wonderful two-day Agafay desert trip, High Atlas Mountain, and Berber villages.
