Overview

The biggest choice you will make in planning your adventure is the question of the ideal time to visit Morocco. It does not have a best month because of its varied geography which covers the Sahara Desert, High Atlas Mountains, and the two coasts. It is a guide by an expert in a country, by season, region or activity, and you have the contentment of knowing that the end of your search is here with a tailor-crafted, expert, response to your individual Trip to Morocco.

Sunshine: Optimal Moroccan Visit

The most agreeable time of the year is the shoulder seasons as recommended by the experienced travelers and other local gurus. This season combines the ideal weather with the controllable crowds.

Peak Shoulder Seasons (Spring & Autumn): The Sweet Spot

  • Spring: Mid-March to May
    • Vibe: Lush, verdant landscapes, especially in the valleys and foothills of the Atlas Mountains, due to winter rains. Temperatures are warm and comfortable.
    • Experience Insight: The desert is accessible and beautiful; the intense heat has not yet settled in. I remember driving through the Valley of Roses in May—the air was thick and sweet with the scent of blooming Damascus roses.
    • Best for: City sightseeing (Marrakech, Fes), comfortable shared Marrakech desert tours, and trekking.
  • Autumn: September to November
    • Vibe: Warm, clear blue skies follow the intense summer heat. Ocean temperatures are still pleasant for swimming, and the cities are wonderfully vibrant.
    • Experience Insight: October is my personal favorite. The temperatures are perfect for walking the souks and the pre-desert oases, like Skoura, are often at their most vibrant just after the date harvest.
    • Best for: Hiking, coastal visits, and a smooth, comfortable Morocco 12 day itinerary.

Winter (December – February): Budget & Adventure Time

  • Though others would view this as the off-season, winter provides a unique, interesting, and cost effective excuse as to why you are visiting Morocco.
  • Minimal Fliers and Specialized activities.
  • The Cities: Marrakech, Fes, and coastal cities Daytime in the cities is pleasant and sunny (usually 15 C -20 C), and sightseeing is not crowded. It is a perfect opportunity of Morocco All Inclusive Packages that revolve around culture.
  • •            The Desert: January is the month that Sahara Desert is most popular. During the day, the heat is bearable but in the night, it is very low. Be ready to have your Morocco desert tour camp close to freezing point.
  • • Mountains: Yes, it is possible to ski in Africa! There are operational resorts in the High Atlas Mountains such as Oukaimoden which provide a special Experience in winter sports.
  • • Challenge / Solution: A number of the more traditional riads use space heaters. Solution: Book lodging that is equipped with good central heating particularly when travelling to Fes or Chefchaouen whereby nights are sometimes really chilly.
Destination Typical Temp Range (Daytime) Ideal Activity
Marrakech/Fes 15°C – 20°C (60°F – 68°F) Unhurried sightseeing, shopping
High Atlas Below 10°C (50°F) Skiing, snow-capped panoramas
Sahara (Merzouga) 18°C – 22°C (65°F – 72°F) Camel trekking (with warm layers for night)

Summer (June – August): Coastal & Mountain Escapes

The summer season is infamously hot and given that your visit schedule to Morocco is limited to this season, look at the relief of the warm coastal air and the soaring elevation.

Heat management strategy (Skill)

  • Coastal Focus: Atlantic coast has natural air conditioning. Such cities as Essaouira and Agadir take advantage of the ongoing ocean wind, which makes the temperatures pleasant (approximately 25 C). This is the Morocco visit time  when people can enjoy beach holidays, surfing and kite surfing.
  • The High Atlas: Plan your Atlas Mountains Tour to a higher level. Tourist spots such as Imlil (one of the favorite destinations of Marrakech Day Trips) are cooler in temperature and it is therefore well suited to short early-mornings hikes.
  • To avoid: It is best to avoid inland towns such as Marrakech (it is usually 40C nearly) and, most importantly, the Sahara Morocco desert tours. In July and August, many desert camps are closed altogether because of the hot weather which is very dangerous.
  • Tourist Advice: In summer, make sure that your hotel has a pool in order to book a luxury Morocco Tours.

Monthly Moroccan Culture: Festivals and Events

The Expertise of planning your trip to coincide with one of the lively fetes of Morocco, will provide an unbelievable cultural dimension to your trip, equating to a unique Experience.
